A Message on Our Commitment to Racial Justice and Equity
The Bridge for Youth has been a part of the Minneapolis community and a national leader in youth homelessness for 54 years, impacting over 50,000 lives. It is our work to stand with youth and protect them from unnecessary injustices and practices of institutions that have caused historical harm.
The Bridge for Youth moves in love and empathy, and we expect our partners and leaders to do the same. We – board of directors, staff, and Youth Advisory Board – are unapologetic about this and will hold others accountable.
In response to fear, oppression and hate, we unequivocally stand against all discrimination and harm to our marginalized neighbors.

Supporting Young Families at the 2025 Legislative Session
During the 2025 legislative session, The Bridge for Youth is requesting state funds for pre-design, design, property acquisition, project management, construction, and occupancy for new housing units in Hennepin County for youth (ages 16+) who are pregnant and/or parenting and have experienced homelessness. This is the third attempted legislative session in which The Bridge has requested support from the state legislature to fund this critically needed infrastructure.
Without it, young families who are pregnant or parenting, including minors, are on the streets or in environments where they and their children are unsafe, at risk of harm and exploitation, and lack critical basic needs and supports.
By providing immediate housing stability for young families in crisis, this investment addresses the unique needs of young families and expands opportunities to secure safe and stable long-term housing. Stable housing empowers youth to increase their levels of safety, well-being, connections, and self-sufficiency, disrupts to multi-generational and adult homelessness, maintains family unification, and prevents systems involvement.
