About the Internship
The internship program at The Bridge cross trains students to work in all areas of shelter. Interns most often start in the Emergency Shelter Program assisting with intakes, assessments, case management, milieu engagement, group facilitation, leading activities, and working with youth one to one. As students gain skills and knowledge they may move into other opportunities within outreach or other site-based programs.
At The Bridge, weekly individual and group supervision is provided. Our intern supervisor has a doctoral degree in social work, is an LICSW, brings 15 years of experience of supervising students and license eligible staff, and can supervise social work and counseling psychology students. Staff and program supervisors also provide guidance to students in the day to day activities of each program.
The mission of The Bridge for Youth is to provide runaway and homeless youth safe shelter, assist in the prevention and resolution of family conflicts and reunify families whenever possible.
The Bridge for Youth is a premier resource for diverse populations of youth and families needing help by offering: Support that empowers, safe shelter, sustainable tools for success and restoration of relationships, and when possible, family reunification.
