The Bridge Celebrates Indigenous Peoples’ Day

Minnesota proclaimed the second Monday of October Indigenous Peoples’ Day in October 2019. Everyday, especially today, we celebrate and recognize the Indigenous Nation(s) of turtle island. Rooted in the belief that our Youth, our communities, our Indigenous relatives feel safe, accepted, and supported, The Bridge stands in solidarity with the 11 Tribal Nations of Mnisóta Makhóčhe. Today we celebrate and recognize Indigenous Peoples for their generous offerings, robust culture & history, and perseverance. Rooting in spirituality and prayer, honor the Indigenous Ancestors that carried songs, stories, and way of being, providing strength, resilience, and above all – hope.  Because we are grounded in the voices of the past, we infuse youth voice of today, to inspire our path into tomorrow. “Let us put our minds together and see what life we can make for our children.” – Sitting Bull-Tatanka Iyotake. Hunkpapa, Lakota
