Combining Art and Food to Support Youth at Create
Creativity, culinary arts, and commUNITY came together at the debut of Create, The Bridge for Youth’s new signature fundraising event. Together we set record-breaking attendance and fundraising goals as we infused art and food to support youth experiencing homelessness.
Throughout the night we celebrated the arts with a gallery of work created by youth with lived experience, enjoyed elevated dishes from culinary artists, were empowered by music from DJ Sophia Eris and Known MPLS, and more.
It was a beautiful night of commUNITY-based fundraising. Thanks to our host, Miss Shannan Paul, and everyone in attendance, we raised the funds needed to ‘create’ spaces where all youth are safe, accepted, and supported.
Taty’s Experience at The Bridge for Youth
Meet Taty, a brilliant and bright young mother whose story of overcoming is one we will never forget. As a leader on the Youth Advisory Board who uses her lived expertise to advocate for youth experiencing homelessness, she knows firsthand what it’s like to be without stability. At age 13, Taty first experienced homelessness and was in need of a shelter where she would be safe, accepted, and supported.
At The Bridge for Youth, she would not only find shelter – but also love and care from a supportive team of staff. Her experience in emergency shelter, and her continued growth after, highlights impact of empowering youth through safe shelter, basic needs, and healthy relationships.
Young Advocates Share Their Stories at Homeless Day on the Hill
Members of the Youth Advocacy ACTion Team, alongside staff and commUNITY members, took to the State Capitol for Homeless Day on the Hill. Youth and staff met face to face with our state elected officials to urge them to support our 2025 bill to provide funding for The Bridge’s young families housing expansion.
A Special Shoutout to our CommUNITY of Support
April is National Volunteer Month – and we are so grateful to all the amazing volunteers who give the gift of their time to assure youth feel safe, accepted, and supported at The Bridge. A special acknowledgement is in order for our weekly volunteers – Kitty, Kathy, Helen, and Alana – who go above and beyond. We are so GreatFULL for your love and support!
