The Bridge opens Emergency Shelter for Parenting Youth
Nightly in Minnesota, over 6,000 youth experience homelessness and more than one-third of these youth – over 2,000 – are pregnant or parenting. To address this growing and pressing need, on August 24th, The Bridge opened Gloria’s Place the only emergency shelter for homeless teen parents and their children in Minnesota.
Gloria’s Place provides emergency shelter, food and clothing for up to six homeless teen parents (ages 15-17), and their children (ages 0-3). Through comprehensive case management, youth in Gloria’s Place will have their immediate needs met, in addition to access to healthcare, assistance in obtaining vital documents, parenting groups, enrolling in school, individual and group counseling, and more.
Thank you to our friends and supporters for making Gloria’s Place a reality!
Thank you Greater Twin Cities United Way for helping prepare youth for school this fall through Action Day! The Bridge received 104 backpacks full of supplies for youth going back to school.

2020 marks the 50th anniversary of The Bridge for Youth
To celebrate this anniversary, every month throughout the year we will highlight Faces of 50, recognizing some of the thousands of individuals who were impacted by The Bridge and who have contributed to our efforts to serve homeless and runaway youth.
This month Faces of 50 features Michael Lehan, a former program participant at The Bridge for Youth. Michael came to The Bridge as a teen looking for a safe place. Today Michael is the Assistant Superintendent of Equity & Achievement at Osseo Area Schools. Thank you Michael for your resilience and commitment to youth work!
