2020 marks the 50th anniversary for The Bridge for Youth!
To recognize and celebrate this milestone, each month throughout the year The Bridge will feature Faces of 50, honoring some of the thousands of individuals who have been impacted by The Bridge and whose contributions have supported and furthered our work with homeless and runaway youth.
The first Faces of 50 video features the co-founders of The Bridge, Sister Rita Steinhagen and Sister Marlene Barghini. We are grateful for their vision and passion in starting The Bridge and we are proud to feature them as our first Faces of 50!
Many thanks to volunteers from WolfNet for spending some time at the Bridge and sharing tasty tacos and fun filled trivia with the youth – it was so much fun!
Tacos & Trivia happens the 3rd Tuesday of the month at 5:30pm. Volunteers prepare tacos and host a game of trivia with the youth. We’re looking for a few more groups to join us in the coming months, contact Sagal Hussein for more information.
Call for Donations!
Homeless youth often lack the necessities that many take for granted. You can help! Below is the current list of our most needed items:
Martin Luther King Jr. Day is observed in the United States on the third Monday of January each year. Throughout Minneapolis special events are being held to celebrate the life and accomplishments of Dr. King. On this day of service, The Bridge is partnering with Human Rights Campaign Twin Cities who will be putting together “cold-weather” kits for youth. Want to get involved? Check out other activities happening across the city to honor the famous civil rights leader.
Dr. King’s work exemplified the importance of youth leadership, empowerment and advocacy. Earlier this month, youth at Rita’s House had the opportunity to work with Face Me Por Favor to create a mural in the reception area at Rita’s House. The “inspiring leadership amongst youth” mural sends a message of leadership and positivity to our youth.

Thank you to everyone who supported The Bridge this Holiday Season!
Thank you to all of our donors, volunteers, and friends for making the holidays special for youth served by the Bridge. Not only did generous donors step up to make sure youth had holiday gifts, but you also provided much needed winter gear, hygiene items, and financial support. It’s your generosity and determination that makes our work possible. ShopHQ, Classic Corvettes Club of Minnesota, Golden Valley Rotary Club, Living Faith Spiritual Community, United Healthcare, Minneapolis Police Department 5th Precinct, and Humanist Minnesota were just a few of the generous groups that provided gifts.
If you missed us during the holiday season, it’s not too late!Individual donors are critical to making sure The Bridge continues to provide a warm, safe place for homeless and runaway youth.
